Since the death of Chad 'Pimp C' Butler, I have enjoyed the music of very few artists . I could never find any artists that could feed my hunger for raw, uncut truth in their music . That all changed the day I heard my first Big K.R.I.T record . It was like Pimp C was speaking to me from Heaven above . As embarrassing as it was, I couldn't help but to cry . It moved me to finally have an artist from my homestate who kept it all the way real & could compete with [if not crush] the rest of the game . Upon my first time hearing 'K.R.I.T Wuz Here', there was no turning back . I found myself completely consumed in his music on a daily basis, reminiscing on my childhood & those times that I never could have imagined that I would be where I am now . Sacrificing relationships, money & time, it has finally began paying off . For those of you who ever doubted Mississippi, just listening to Krit should tell you that you're in for a rude awakening . So if you really want to know about this 'country shit', keep reading .
Q: Where are you from ?
A: Meridian, Mississippi .
Q: Being from Mississippi, how do you feel about where it stands in the game right now ?
A: Mississippi definitely has a bright future in the game . Between me, Big Sant, The Joker, Corleone, Boo Rossini, etc. Its all about working together & continuing to produce good music.
Q: When did you first decide to become an artist ?
A: 1999-2000, at 13 years old .
Q: You're only 24 but the wisdom & soul in your music goes far beyond that in years . How did you become such an 'old soul' ?
A: Growing up around my grandmother . She had the 'iron fist' . Listening to your family & elders growing up automatically gives you the perspective of someone twice your age . I was raised with the "It takes a village to raise a child' mentality . As far as being an adolscent, I always wanted to be older & take responsibility .
