The Kush 901 Interview w/ Big Sant

Friday, November 5, 2010

Big Sant. The guy from Meridian, Mississippi never confused to be a Lame, a sucker, a punk, or a bitch as he always says. A very original artist and just so happens to rock with Big Krit with a group called the Alumni. With a style very unique, Sant is on his way to the top, mainly because he stays true to himself. You have heard him feature on plenty songs with Krit and other artist. He will be dropping his very own album come next summer. He took some time out to do this interview with me check it out!

TK901: Who is Big Sant?

Big Sant: Big Sant is just a country boy from Mississippi that happens to rap.

TK901: How did you first get into music?

Big Sant: I was born into music. Kinda like natural selection. My mama does music, my grandparents kept me in church so of course I did music there too.

TK901: Its The Return of 4eva….what does this means to you?

Big Sant: The Return of 4eva is bigger than a movement. It’s my brother Big K.R.I.T.’s invention. We’re just having a good time doing the same kind of music that inspired us to do music in the first place. Southern hip-hop in its glory days isn’t like the way it is now. We’re out to inspire people the same way we were.

TK901: Coming from Meridian, did you ever think your music would get a chance?

Big Sant: Coming from MS period, I can’t go on record and say I ever expected it to be this large in scale. Its a blessing to see people so receptive to what we’re doing without applying stereotypes.

TK901: The Alumni, is that the group that Consist of you and Big Krit?

Big Sant: Yea, The Alumni is me and Big K.R.I.T. We’ve been doing music together for about eight or nine years.

TK901: Your style is truly on some “Gshit” what inspires you to rap like that?

Big Sant: Ha! I wouldn’t call it “G shit” because when you label something it kinda box’s you in. I’m just being honest on records. I enjoy my craft and I like talking shit. Just like Too Short or Ice Cube or Pimp C or 50 Cent I like whatever I have to say to garner the attention it deserves. The south still got something to say…

TK901: With you and Krit, its like yall have the potential to be the new UGK, 8Ball and MJG- legendary yall are for the community. How do you feel about that?

Big Sant: We hear that a lot and I appreciate the comparisons. You can’t name a lot of artists this early in our careers whose names get mentioned along side legends

TK901: What Keeps U Socially High?

Big Sant: I stay socially high by doing and saying exactly what I want to.

TK901: What can we Expect next?

Big Sant: The Return of Forever is what’s next…I could talk about all our plans but I don’t wanna spoil the surprise. K.R.I.T. is really about to surprise everyone who may have the thought in the back of their head that he/we can’t do it again…

TK901:Shouts?

Big Sant: Shout out to everyone who appreciates and supports the music.
word.

Props to Kush 901
